The Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan begins with the official presence of the Islamic Emirate
The seventh Moscow Format meeting began in Moscow with the presence of the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Emirate and Russia and representatives of regional countries. Amir Khan Muttaqi, the country's Foreign Minister, participated in the meeting for the first time as an official member.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in his opening remarks that the deployment of third-party military infrastructure in Afghanistan is unacceptable.

The Russian Foreign Minister also said that he and the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate discussed the prospects for developing relations between the countries.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that the presence of forces from trans-regional actors could lead to instability and new conflicts.

He added that the history of Afghanistan shows that the military presence in this country has caused many problems and everyone should draw the right conclusions.

These statements by the Russian Foreign Minister come at a time when US President Donald Trump says that his government is trying to retake the Bagram base in Afghanistan.

Sergei Lavrov said that humanitarian aid to Afghanistan should not be affected by current political issues.

According to Mr. Lavrov, 22 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance and assistance to them should not be under the shadow of political conditions.

Lavrov stated in this meeting that despite external pressure and a small budget, the Islamic Emirate has been able to organize the fight against terrorism, primarily the fight against ISIS.

He emphasized that we intend to expand cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking and strengthen trade relations with Afghanistan.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that drug production in Afghanistan has decreased by 90 percent since 2022, which has had a significant result.

On the other hand, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President's representative for Afghanistan, has said about the agenda of the "Moscow Format" that the US warning about the Bagram air base will not be discussed at this meeting.

He told the TASS news agency: "No, such nonsense will not be discussed."

The meeting was held in Moscow with the presence of representatives of the Islamic Emirate, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

This year, for the first time, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, is participating in this meeting as a member.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate attended the sixth meeting of the "Moscow Format" as a guest last year.
