Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-International Service: A few hours ago, a massive explosion occurred at an oil refinery in Los Angeles County, which led to the formation of a massive fireball. Los Angeles police in the state of California, USA, announced that the fire broke out at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo.
The flames and fireball that were created were visible from kilometers away across the city.
Horrifying images and videos posted on social media showed the night sky lit up with bright orange flames and plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
Witnesses also reported hearing a “sudden, continuous roar” before the fire spread.
Officials have not yet reported any casualties or evacuations, but the fire is still burning.
Other images taken as the fire raged on showed huge plumes of smoke rising into the sky.
The El Segundo neighborhood is just south of Los Angeles International Airport, and it is not yet clear whether flights have been affected.
Local media outlets reported that units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were deployed around the refinery, with flames still visible from the facility.
It is still unclear how the fire started or exactly what time of night it started.
