Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs announced in a new press release that several projects in the sector of generating electricity from coal and biomass resources in different parts of the country have been prepared to attract investment.
These projects are located in Khunjan and Khwaja Alwan districts of Baghlan province, Kahmard and Sayghan districts of Bamyan province, Sholgara district and Cheshma-e-Shafa area of Balkh province, as well as Karokh district of Herat province in the coal sector, and a biomass power generation project in Bagrami district of Kabul province.
The total capacity of these projects is estimated to be about 1,680 megawatts of electricity, which can cover a significant part of the country’s electricity needs and contribute to the sustainable development and economic growth of Afghanistan.
Emphasizing the importance of these projects, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs has invited domestic and foreign investors to participate in the development of the country’s energy infrastructure. The implementation of these projects will not only help increase electricity production and reduce energy shortages, but will also provide extensive employment opportunities for residents of the aforementioned areas.
In addition, the use of biomass resources in electricity generation is an important step towards the development of clean and environmentally friendly energies, which is in line with the broad goals of protecting the environment and improving the quality of life of the people.
It is expected that these projects, if fully implemented and utilized, will significantly contribute to reducing dependence on electricity imports and improving energy conditions throughout the country, and accelerate the process of economic development in Afghanistan.
