According to the Afghan Embassy; The process of transferring Afghan prisoners sentenced to prison in the Islamic Republic of Iran began on Tuesday, March 19, with the presence of Maulvi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, acting head of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tehran, and officials from the Iranian Ministry of Justice.
 
On the first day, 149 Afghan prisoners were transferred to Afghanistan after being identified by a joint team of representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Iran.
 
The prisoners will continue their sentences in the country's prisons in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the statement said.
 
Another number of Afghan prisoners are scheduled to be transferred to Afghanistan today after being identified. Also, the Iranian Ministry of Justice's Transfer of Convicts Committee will continue the process after the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
 
Hundreds of Afghan prisoners have been transferred from Iran to the country before.
