Telegram CEO Released from French Detention, Returns to Dubai
Russian-born Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov, who was not allowed to leave France for months due to an official investigation, announced on Monday that he had returned to Dubai.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Durov was arrested at an airport on the outskirts of Paris in August last year and was then placed under official investigation and banned from leaving French territory.
 
The CEO of the messaging app Telegram said: "I have spent several months in France due to an investigation into criminal activities at Telegram. The investigation is ongoing, but being home feels wonderful."
 
According to a Reuters report, he said: "I would like to thank the investigating judges for allowing me to leave France, and also my lawyers and Telegram team for their tireless efforts to prove that Telegram has not only fulfilled its legal obligations for many years, but has gone beyond them in monitoring, cooperating with law enforcement and fighting crime."
