Afghan Voice News Agency (AVA) - International Service: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today (Tuesday) that the Kremlin has no information about the visit of Steve Vitkoff, US President Donald Trump's special representative for the Middle East, to Moscow and that there are no plans to contact him.
The RIA Novosti news agency reported that Peskov, in response to reporters' questions about reports about Vitkoff's trip to Moscow on a private plane and possible contacts between the Kremlin and him regarding Ukraine, said: "No, I have no information and we have no plans for any contact. But in this regard, I must say that nothing has happened regarding peace in Ukraine.
He also said that contacts between Russia and the United States are carried out through some diplomatic channels, which have recently increased.
The Kremlin spokesman said: "We have many channels in different sectors. (Contacts through these channels) have really increased. The Trump administration is also busy with its activities in Washington.
Washington to monitor and analyze Putin's statements
Peskov continued by saying that the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin are monitored and studied all over the world, and it is important that Washington does the same.
He said: "Vladimir Putin's statements are monitored and analyzed all over the world. Of course, in terms of understanding our approach to global events, it is very important that Washington does the same."
Peskov also commented on Trump's quotes from Putin, saying that this does not mean that they should be seen as a sign of a rapprochement between the United States and Russia.
Peskov's comments come after Trump, in a message on his page on the social network "Social Truth" on Monday evening, published a link to an article from CNBC in which Putin was quoted as saying that the US President would immediately restore order in relations with European figures who "will stand at the feet of their master and wag their tails a little."
Moscow's readiness to mediate in Baku-Yerevan relations
The Kremlin spokesman also said about mediation in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan: "We have seen statements from Yerevan at various levels that there is no need for mediators. Yerevan and Baku are able to continue these negotiations themselves until the process (normalization of relations) is finalized. In the meantime, we remain ready to provide any assistance, but we will also welcome independent efforts in this area.
Earlier, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alan Simonyan said that the country would probably not accept Russian mediation in negotiations with Azerbaijan.
Ukrainians’ desire to join Russia
Peskov also claimed that a significant part of Ukraine wants to join Russia, and this is a fact that history has shown.
Earlier, Trump had said that Ukraine should ensure the security of US investments in resources in the country, since those resources may “one day become available to Russia or not.”
Peskov said in this regard: “In fact, a significant part of Ukraine wants to join Russia and has already joined. This is a fact that has happened and we have four new Russian regions. The fact that people are voting to join the Russian Federation, despite all the risks, is consistent with President Trump’s statements.
He added that the possibility of anything happening in this regard is 50/50.
