Indian Prime Minister Supports India
Ahead of his visit to the United States and meeting with the US President, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported India's investment in Iran's Chabahar Port, calling it a tool to facilitate trade relations with Central Asia.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of his visit to the United States and meeting with the US President, has supported India's investment in Chabahar Port, calling it a tool to facilitate trade relations with Central Asia.

The Times of India, in a report titled “Ahead of Modi-Trump meeting, India supports Chabahar port development,” wrote: While the Trump administration of the United States threatens to revoke the sanctions waiver that allows India to develop the strategic Chabahar port in Iran, the Indian government on Monday, February 12, 1403, supported the development of the port, saying that it would provide an alternative route needed by Afghanistan for its reconstruction and economic development while strengthening trade links with Central Asia.

According to IRNA, earlier in May last year, Jaideep Mazumdar, an official in the Middle East Department of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, while explaining the signing of the long-term agreement to develop the Chabahar port, had said: “Regional connectivity is an important pillar of India-Iran relations. The development of Chabahar port in southeastern Iran reflects our shared vision of connectivity for mutual benefits.” The port has proven its strong potential.

US President Donald Trump recently issued an executive order asking the Secretary of State to amend or change sanctions that include any degree of economic or financial facilitation, including those related to Chabahar Port.

It is worth noting that Chabahar Port plays a key role in Afghanistan’s trade with other countries via sea. Recently, due to Pakistan’s extensive restrictions, the country’s traders have turned to Chabahar Port to transport their goods.
