Norwegian Refugee Council suspends activities in 20 countries, including Afghanistan
The Norwegian Refugee Council says it has suspended its activities in 20 countries, including Afghanistan, due to the suspension of US funding.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Norwegian Refugee Council says it has suspended its activities in 20 countries, including Afghanistan, due to the suspension of US aid.

The council said in a statement on Monday that it had never had to make such a decision in its history.

According to the statement, the agency's staff in Afghanistan have been forced to stop aid to women, girls and families who are still experiencing the consequences of the chaotic US withdrawal.

The Norwegian Refugee Council welcomed the exemption from the suspended US aid for life-saving aid, but added that the council was not included in the exemption.

The organization has called for continued US financial assistance.

The head of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Jan Agland, has previously visited Afghanistan and warned of a humanitarian crisis in the country.
