Afghanistan and Iran emphasize the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of water and soil
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has announced the meeting between Maulavi Sadr Azam Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry, and the Deputy Minister of Water and Soil of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of Iran, and says that the two sides emphasized the development of cooperation in the fields of soil science, soil improvement and strengthening, water resources management and the use of modern irrigation technologies.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock sent a press release to AVA News Agency today (Wednesday, December 4) that Maulavi Sadr Azam Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry, met and discussed with the Deputy Minister of Water and Soil of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the development of cooperation in the fields of soil science, soil improvement and strengthening, water resources management and the use of modern irrigation technologies.
According to the press release, it was agreed that improving Afghanistan's agricultural soils would be pursued as a priority by transferring knowledge, modern technologies, and holding training programs for Afghan specialists.
The Iranian Deputy Minister of Water and Soil pledged to help improve Afghanistan's capacities in soil science and water resources management through the transfer of experiences and providing technical support.
Also, drip and sprinkler irrigation techniques were introduced as effective solutions to reduce water waste and increase agricultural productivity.
The Ministry of Agriculture says that the meeting emphasized the need to encourage the private sector to invest in the production of modern irrigation system equipment.
The press release adds that the parties also called for continuing discussions and implementing joint projects to achieve positive and sustainable results in the water and soil sectors.
It is worth noting that the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the country has traveled to this country with the aim of expanding agricultural cooperation with Iran.
