Waleed Abdullah, former Al-Nasr goalkeeper, says that Ronaldo was interested in Islam and that he may one day decide to convert.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Waleed Abdullah, former Al-Nasr goalkeeper, spoke in controversial statements about Cristiano Ronaldo, the current team captain,'s interest in Islam. Various reports had previously indicated that Ronaldo had shown interest in Islam due to his good adaptation and connection to Saudi culture.
Waleed Abdullah stated on the Al-Hasa Al-Akhreer program broadcast on the Saudi TV channel: "The first time I spoke to Ronaldo in the locker room, I had no fear. As the team captain, I stood up and spoke to everyone, and contrary to what some people said, I was not nervous at all."
He added: "At first, I was close to Ronaldo because he was not yet familiar with the culture of the country and the club. He always asked me about different details and was interested in learning."
Walid also said: "Ronaldo is interested in converting to Islam. I talked to him about it and he was interested. Once he prostrated after scoring a goal and he also encourages the players to pray."
He continued: "When Ronaldo prostrated, all the players shouted 'Allahu Akbar'. He even asks the coach to stop training when he hears the call to prayer so that the players can pray."
According to Woreda 3, Walid emphasized: "Regardless of whether he converts to Islam or not, Ronaldo is a disciplined and committed person and these qualities have brought him to this position."
He also noted: "Ronaldo and his son are very humble. His son is very simple and friendly with his friends. In my opinion, anyone who comes to Saudi Arabia falls in love with this country."
Walid Abdullah, who played for Al-Nasr between February 2017 and January 2024 and then joined Al-Dariyah, explained that he has been a teammate of Ronaldo since January 2023. He said that Ronaldo was surprised that some players did not pray and asked them to do so.
