The Iranian Foreign Minister stated in Ankara today (Monday) that the Syrian government and army are capable of confronting terrorist groups, and said: Of course, resistance groups will also help, and Iran will provide whatever support is necessary.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, who arrived in Ankara this morning (Monday, December 2) at the head of a delegation to meet and discuss with high-ranking Turkish officials about the current situation in the region and recent developments in Syria, and after being in Damascus, explained the goals of the trip to reporters: Today (Monday), I will have a detailed meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. In any case, there are common concerns that need to be discussed.
Araqchi also called his visit to Damascus a very good visit and, referring to his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, said: We also had a very good exchange of views on the current developments in Syria and the region.
He stated: "Naturally, the conditions are difficult, but what was certain was the spirit of the Syrian government and the issue of resistance and standing firm against this recent conspiracy by Takfiri terrorists."
Stating that I have clearly announced Iran's full support for Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian government, the army and the Syrian people, the Iranian Foreign Minister added: "There have been more difficult times in the past when ISIS and other different groups dragged Syria into a civil war, but they were confronted, and now they have found an opportunity again and they think that due to the conditions resulting from the Zionist regime's invasion of Lebanon and Palestine and the conditions in the region, it is a good opportunity for them to make another move."
He added: "Naturally, this is a miscalculation. The Syrian government and army are capable of confronting these groups."
The head of the diplomatic service reminded: "Of course, resistance groups also help, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will also provide whatever support is necessary."
The Iranian Foreign Minister recently (late October of this year) arrived in Istanbul, continuing his fourth round of visits to the region regarding the current situation in the region and efforts to stop the Zionist crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, and after his trips to Amman and Cairo, and met with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also participated in the third meeting of the 3+3 format foreign ministers in Istanbul.
This high-ranking Iranian diplomat also spoke by phone with the foreign ministers of Syria and Russia in recent days, following the ongoing developments in Syria.
