November 29, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, is a day of world solidarity with the courage and steadfastness, freedom-seeking and justice-seeking people who have stood empty-handed against the most evil forces that history has seen for more than seven decades. Forces that shamelessly consider taking the lives of young children, killing defenseless people, destroying people's homes and assassinating the most honorable heroes as their pride, and the worried and disbelieving gaze of the people of the world does not embarrass them even a little.

The UN's action to designate a day of solidarity with the Palestinian people is a worthy but insufficient action. Last year, on this day, the number of Palestinians killed was 14,000, but now we are faced with 53,000 dead and missing and more than 100,000 injured, more than 60 percent of whom are women, children and the elderly. For more than a year, the people of the world have been looking to the United Nations to find a way to confront the genocide of the Palestinian people, to quell the fire of war that has spread to other countries, and to bring the jailer of the world’s largest open-air prison to justice. Unfortunately, during this time, all freedom-loving and conscientious people of the world have witnessed the inaction of the United Nations and the impunity of terrorists who dress up as statesmen and preach to others in the United Nations. The current situation in Palestine and other countries affected by the brutal attacks of the Israeli regime proves that the most effective and fastest measure to sympathize with the Palestinian people is to contain the Zionist regime and cut off international support for this cancerous tumor. The Zionist regime has shown its lack of commitment to international norms and values ​​by tearing up the United Nations Charter, which is a treaty accepted by the organization’s members. History will record that the widespread massacre of civilians, attacks on hospitals, cutting off water, food, fuel, and medicine for the people of Gaza, displacing thousands of people, killing journalists and employees of international organizations, and martyring legends such as Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, and Martyr Yahya Sinwar took place with the complicity of Western governments claiming to uphold human rights, especially the United States, and each time efforts to stop the war and the killing of children were ineffective when the United States representative raised his hand in the UN Security Council.

The Islamic Republic of Iran honors the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, but at the same time warns against the actions of this organization against the killing of the Palestinian people. The injustices being perpetrated against the Palestinian people today demand global attention and action, and remaining silent in the face of them is normalizing evil and oppression that will challenge the future of humanity. If the United Nations, and especially the Security Council, cannot find a way to confront the occupiers of the Palestinian land today, the credibility and prestige of this organization will be seriously threatened.

Today, we emphasize our commitment to fully support the cause of a free and independent Palestine, and in this regard, we stand with the Palestinian people. The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with all countries committed to the principles of freedom, equality, justice, and human rights, and considers the defense of the Palestinian people to be the demand of all free people in the world. The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to believe that the only principled solution to the Palestinian issue is the return of the refugees and the holding of a referendum among the indigenous people of Palestine, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, based on democratic principles and international law. Undoubtedly, in this painful and unequal battle, the ultimate victor will be those people with the will that the world's largest military arsenals have not been able to disrupt on the path to victory.
