Netanyahu: Ceasefire with Lebanon is a choice between bad and worse / The Zionist regime is on the path to a forced ceasefire with Lebanon
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Israeli media reported that in Netanyahu's opinion, a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon is better than stopping the war under the threat of sanctions.
It is said that the Israeli Prime Minister has said in closed meetings with Israeli officials that a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon is a choice between bad and worse for him.
He explained that "a ceasefire agreement is not ideal, but it is better than its possible alternative, which is the imposition of sanctions in the UN Security Council."
The Israel Hayom newspaper reported that Netanyahu meant that a ceasefire agreement was better than facing the risk of a unilateral US resolution being imposed through the UN Security Council. According to the report, Netanyahu, who has always enjoyed Washington’s support during more than a year of attrition on the fronts of Lebanon and Gaza, has suddenly given importance to UN resolutions and is now saying: “If this happens, that is, unilateral sanctions are imposed, we may be forced to stop the war under the threat of sanctions, and if the other side violates the agreement, we will be left without an agreement and guarantees.”
According to Fars and the Israeli newspaper, Netanyahu made these remarks at a meeting on Sunday night with the heads of security services and the ministers of war, foreign affairs, strategic affairs, finance and internal security. At this meeting, an agreement was reached on the final details of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
Meanwhile, despite increasing speculation in regional and international media about an imminent ceasefire between Lebanon and the Zionist regime, the Zionist regime’s Channel 14 television announced that most members of the Israeli Knesset have announced that they are against any ceasefire in Lebanon.
This comes at a time when some sources are reporting that a meeting of the Zionist regime’s security cabinet, chaired by Benjamin Netanyahu, will be held to review the ceasefire plan between Lebanon and Israel.
On the other hand, a number of politicians in the north of Israel have strongly criticized the ceasefire negotiations with Hezbollah.
Hours before the Zionist regime’s security cabinet meeting to review the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, the mayor of the occupied city of Metula, a city close to the Lebanese border, described the ceasefire as a “surrender.”
According to the BBC, he said that the threat from Hezbollah remains. International pressure to finalize the agreement is increasing.
