Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Anadolu Agency, the EU statement said that this is an important step in the implementation of the EU Rapid Deployment Capability (EU RDC) and one of the key achievements of the EU's strategic cooperation.

 

The statement added: The exercise will be conducted under the European Command and the German Army Command and will involve more than 1,700 soldiers from 15 member states.

 

According to IRNA, earlier in September, the EU's Defense Commissioner announced that European countries must increase their military capabilities to be ready to confront Russia within the next 6 to 8 years.

 

In an interview, Andrius Kobilius, the first EU Defense Commissioner, emphasized the rapid increase in the EU's military capabilities because they may be in conflict with Russia in the next 6 to 8 years.

 

The former Lithuanian prime minister has called for countries to increase their military budgets to boost Europe’s military industry.

 

Kobilius, a staunch critic of Russia and a supporter of Ukraine, said NATO defense ministers and generals agree that Russia could be ready to confront NATO and the European Union in the next six to eight years.

 

“If we take these assessments seriously, that’s when we need to prepare properly,” he said. “This is a short period of time. That means we need to make quick and ambitious decisions.”

 

Kobilius said his first task as commissioner would be to review the resources the EU needs to prepare for a military challenge. He plans to conduct a field study within 100 days of his term.
