With the drilling of 25 new wells, daily oil extraction in the Amu Darya oil field will reach 3 thousand tons
Officials of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in an interview with Ava that the ministry is drilling 25 new wells in the Amu Darya oil field, and with the drilling of these wells, daily oil extraction will reach 3,000 tons. On the other hand, economic experts believe that with the extraction of oil, Afghanistan will meet its internal needs and the import of oil derivatives will decrease.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Humayun Afghan, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said in a conversation with an AVA reporter that the work on drilling 25 new oil wells in the Amu Darya basin is underway and will be completed in the near future.
He added that right now, almost 24 wells are active in the Amu Darya oil field and 1,300 tons of oil are extracted from these wells every day.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Mines stated that with the drilling of 25 new wells, daily oil extraction will reach 2-3 thousand tons, stating that the Ministry of Mines is trying to make Afghanistan oil self-sufficient.
On the other hand, in an interview with Ava reporter, Mohammad Sediq Javaindeh, a university professor and an economic expert, said that oil extraction in the country, while creating job opportunities, is useful for providing funds for improving infrastructure and social services.
Emphasizing that the attraction of foreign investment in the oil sector will lead to international cooperation and the transfer of new technologies to the country, he added that the oil industry will lead to the development of refineries and petrochemicals, which will be very profitable from an economic point of view.
This economic expert said: "The Amu Darya region in northern Afghanistan is considered one of the most important oil regions of the country, and estimates show that it has more than 1.6 billion barrels of oil, and until now, these resources have not been fully exploited due to the lack of infrastructure and technologies. Advanced has not been done extensively".
Mr. Javaindeh praised the efforts to improve the country's economic situation through the extraction of natural resources by the Islamic Emirate, and Afghanistan will be able to meet its domestic needs by extracting oil.
According to his words, oil extraction in the country reduces energy imports from other countries and it is necessary to properly manage Afghanistan's natural resources.
It should be mentioned that a number of economic experts believe that if the field of oil and gas processing is established inside the country, the field of work will be provided in Afghanistan and the price of oil and gas will also decrease.
