The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan said that the opening of the "Afghan-Trans" railway corridor will strengthen the transit situation and mutual relations between Central Asian countries, and this corridor will be an important tool for the integration of Central Asian countries with the world economy.

Afghan Voice Agency (Ava) - Kabul: Ilham Mukhkov, the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, said in an interview with Trend published today (Monday, 28 October) that access to Pakistan's ports through Afghanistan is the shortest route for Uzbekistan to the sea.

According to him, Uzbekistan can establish business relations with the countries of South Asia, Africa and North and South America through the Indian Ocean.

The Minister of Transportation of Uzbekistan stated: "Central Asian countries do not have direct access to sea transportation, and this has kept them away from the cheapest transportation routes. The development of transit infrastructure is one of the key tasks of the countries in the region.

According to this Uzbek official, the countries of Central Asia have reserves of natural resources, and the "Afghan-Trans" railway will be an important tool for the integration of the countries of Central Asia with the world economy.

It should be noted that the "Afghan-Trans" railway project will help connect Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

This route reduces the delivery time of commercial property from 35 days to five days and also reduces the cost of its transfer by at least 40%.

This project is supposed to be completed by the end of 2027.

This is despite the fact that a few months ago, Maulawi Abdul Kabir, the political deputy of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, said in a meeting with the Uzbek delegation that the Islamic Emirate is trying to connect Central Asia and South Asia through railways and roads.
