China to invest $5 billion in Mas Aynak / Government emphasizes on practical start of project
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulavi Abdul Kabir, the political deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate, met with Song Won Bing, the head of the first copper contracting company, and his delegation, the presidential palace said in a statement on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Song Wen Bing spoke about the immediate start of the practical work of Mas Aynak and accelerated efforts, adding that with the rule of the Islamic Emirate, many problems in the mining sector have been solved, but they still need the cooperation of the Afghan government.
Bing added that they would invest more than $5 billion in the first phase of Mas Aynak and after the construction of the road leading to the area, the first mining works would begin and the necessary equipment would be imported to Afghanistan next year.
He said the project would provide jobs for 3,000 Afghans and they planned to send a group of them to China to learn vocational training.
He cited historical sites and changes in the mine's mining plan as factors that delayed the project.
Maulavi Abdul Kabir, the political deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate, also called Afghanistan-China relations useful in various fields and said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is ready to cooperate with the contractor to start the practical work of Aynak.
He called for increased efforts to start the work of Aynak copper mine and stressed that time should not be wasted.
The political beputy of prime minister also assured the contractor of Aynak copper mine that the relevant departments would take action to solve their problems.
