Local officials in Herat province say the construction of the second phase of the Kabul Steel Smelter with an investment of $18 million will begin tomorrow, Friday, September 6, with the presence of the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Local officials in Herat province say that the foundation stone of the second phase of the Kabul Steel Smelter is scheduled to be laid in Herat on Friday in the presence of Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi.

The second phase is estimated to cost $18 million and is expected to begin production within four months, they said.

It is worth mentioning that Kabul Steel Smelting Company has been operating in Herat since 2012 in the field of iron and steel production. It has also created jobs for hundreds of people, which will increase significantly with the start of the second phase.
