The Minister of Public Health works with WHO to improve health care services
The Acting Minister of Public Health, in a meeting with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization, emphasized the long-term cooperation between Afghanistan and the World Health Organization.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali engaged in an online dialogue with Ms. Hanan Al-Balkhi, the regional director of the WHO, Edwin Siniza Salvador, WHO’s representative in Afghanistan, and Dr. Hamid Jafari, the regional coordinator for the Eastern Mediterranean Polio Eradication Initiative.
The discussions centered on several pivotal topics, including the enhancement of healthcare services throughout Afghanistan, the capacity-building of Afghan healthcare professionals, the training of specialists across various medical disciplines, the establishment of health facilities in remote and underserved regions, and strategies for the control and prevention of communicable diseases. Additionally, the implementation of more effective polio vaccination campaigns and other critical health initiatives were addressed.
Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali emphasized the necessity for sustained support and cooperation, alongside immediate and short-term assistance, to fortify and maintain the integrity of the national health system. He deemed these collaborative efforts essential for advancing the healthcare framework in Afghanistan.
Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of attracting international support to Afghanistan’s health sector and advocated for enduring commitments in this area. He affirmed that the enhancement of Afghanistan’s health system is of paramount importance and necessitates considerable effort, to which he committed his full cooperation.
