In the government's accountability program, the officials of the prisons administration informed the people that about 21,000 people are imprisoned for various crimes across the country and say that there are no private prisons in the country.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In the continuation of the government's accountability programs to the people; Today, Sunday, Maulavi Mohammad Yusuf Mestri, the head of the Prisons Affairs Regulatory Department, explaining the one-year functions of this department, said that according to the decree of the leader of the caretaker government, during the month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, in the number of 3 thousand And 200 prisoners have been released from the country's prisons, and in the same way, a special discount has been considered for the punishment of another 1,655 people.
 
He announced the release of 3,243 prisoners from the country's prisons last year and added; 3 thousand and 16 prisoners have been transferred from provinces to the center, from the center to provinces and from one province to another province.
 
The head of the Prisons Affairs Regulatory Department informed the Supreme Court about the necessary arrangements to determine the fate of 1,562 prisoners.
 
He also informed about the training of prisoners inside the prison and said; A total of 2,241 prisoners have graduated from various departments of religious education, and 6,408 others are engaged in learning religious education.
 
Meanwhile, Maulvi Abdul Hadi Mali Akhundzadeh, the financial and administrative deputy of this department, announced the provision of financial support, treatment of prisoners, feeding of 21,000 prisoners, vocational training, and the equipping of various departments of this department and the signing of cooperation agreements with a number of institutions and said: Prisoners have daily consumption from 120 to 160 afghanis.
 
Qari Habibullah Badr, the deputy of military affairs of this department, announced the holding of workshops and educational seminars to professionalize and improve the capacity of prison police and said; Professional training was given to 680 officers, lieutenants and soldiers last year, and 160 others are currently undergoing professional training.
 
He also informed about the activation of therapeutic, supportive and preventive departments in the 50-bed hospital related to this department and said: 1,122 prisoners have been engaged in vocational training, of which 337 have received vocational training in different departments last year.
 
Officials of the Prisons Regulatory Affairs Department rejected some reports that prisoners are tortured in prisons and said: "There is no place for torture in any prison and these reports are completely false."
 
They also announced the activation of Bagram prison and added: Currently, there is no private prison in any part of Afghanistan.
