Interior Ministry officials say the number of police officers has reached about 250,000, stressing that the number of crimes in the country has decreased by 30 percent in the past year. They also add that more than 1.7 million passports have been issued to citizens in the past year.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In the continuation of the government's accountability programs to the people, Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Omari, the first deputy minister of interior affairs, said on Tuesday that 30 percent of crimes have been reduced in the past year. It has decreased due to the efforts of the security forces in the country.
 
He said 20,515 officers and 15,600 soldiers had been recruited in the past year, adding that 35,584 soldiers had been recruited by the Ministry of Interior.
The first deputy minister reported 38 kidnappings in the country and added: Security forces have launched a total of 250 operations against kidnappers, resulting in 76 kidnappers being arrested and 34 others killed in clashes with security forces. have been.
 
The official of the Ministry of Interior called the security of large religious, national and occasional gatherings and ceremonies by the national police in the past year as one of the important achievements of the ministry and said: With the efforts of the country's police soldiers, a large number of compatriots They attended the ceremonies with confidence.
 
He also said that ensuring the security of economic and development projects, creating conditions for investment, evaluating and registering the country's border lines, facilitating the provision of services to the people and balanced development were other major achievements of the ministry during the past year.
 
Mr. Omari reported on the ability of the National Police to repel any kind of targets and plans of evil elements and said: In the professionalization and strengthening of the security forces, fundamental steps have been taken and the training centers of the National Police have been more equipped.
 
He also announced the graduation of 450 students from the commissioner's and in-service programs to the bachelor's degree and added: 673 students participated in the capacity building programs, including 325 females.
 
The first deputy minister of interior said that 24,000 people had received basic, specialized and satnamni training in the past year, adding that another 32,000 were currently studying.
He also said that serious measures have been taken to eradicate the cultivation, production, smuggling and use of drugs after the issuance of the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate.
 
The official of the Ministry of Interior also announced serious and legal action against the perpetrators of cultivation, smuggling and drug users last year, adding: Poppy fields have been destroyed across the country and addicts have also been treated.
 
He said that 1 million 950 thousand dollars, 845 thousand euros, 4 million 830 thousand Saudi riyals and 100 thousand dirhams were smuggled in the country's airports during the past year. In addition, 344 kilograms of narcotics, more than one kilogram of gold were seized and 591 people were arrested in connection with it.
 
Meanwhile, Mufti Abdul Matin Qane, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said the ministry had provided services such as distributing passports and traffic documents, assisting victims of natural disasters, reducing crime, and legalizing the carrying of weapons and vehicles. announced.
He also said that 1 million 745 thousand passports had been distributed to applicants in the past year.
The interior ministry official also said that 28,000 inactive vehicles had been repaired in the past year, adding that 93 procurement projects had been planned and more than 50 percent of them had been completed.
 
Mr. Ghane also announced a large plan at the cabinet level to solve the traffic problem in Kabul and said: In the near future, all traffic congestion will be solved with its implementation.
 
He reported 4,278 traffic accidents last year, adding; Unfortunately, as a result of drivers' negligence, 2,001 people have died and 5,996 others have been injured.
 
He said the total number of police forces was about 250,000 and added that forces who do not obey the police uniform will be dealt with according to the law.
 
Officials from the Ministry of Interior also reminded that more than 13 billion Afghanis were collected from the ministry's service delivery sector last year.
 
They expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation of international organizations in the fight against drugs with the acting government and added: So far, no international organization or organization has cooperated with the government in this regard.
