Banning of the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur's trip to Afghanistan by the Islamic Emirate

21 Aug 2024 - 10:42

The general spokesman of the Islamic Emirate has announced that the visit of Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council for Afghanistan, to the country is prohibited.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, the general spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said that the travel ban was imposed on Richard Bennett due to his propaganda against Afghanistan.

The general spokesman of the Islamic Emirate added that Richard Bennett was providing false information about the situation in Afghanistan to the world.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate told TOLO News about this: "Mr. Bennett has been banned from coming to Afghanistan, because he was assigned to carry out propaganda in Afghanistan, and he is not someone we can believe in his words." He does not exist in Afghanistan and is not allowed to come anymore. He magnified and propagated a small issue."

The special rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council for Afghanistan has always criticized what he considers human rights violations in Afghanistan in his reports.

But on the other hand, Richard Bennett's criticisms have always been read by the Islamic Emirate as far from the current realities of Afghanistan.

It should be mentioned that in April 2022, the United Nations Human Rights Council appointed Richard Bennett as the special rapporteur of this council for the purpose of documenting human rights violations in Afghanistan.
