Confusion of the Israeli people/decrease of Zionists' trust in Netanyahu's government and opposition leaders

18 Aug 2024 - 15:25

The results of the latest survey, which has been published every Friday in the Maariv newspaper for the past two years, show that people are very confused about Israel's leadership. The trust of most citizens of the Zionist regime in the leaders of the current political parties of the regime, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition, and Benny Gantz, Netanyahu's main rival, has been greatly reduced.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Considering the challenges caused by the war, most Israelis believe that Naftali Bennett is the right choice for the leadership of the Israeli government. Meanwhile, Naftali Bennett has neither a political party nor a desire to return to the political arena.

The results of the latest poll on Friday, 26 Asad, show that people are very confused about Israel's leadership, especially that about a third of the Israeli people have not yet made a decision in this regard and do not know who to vote for if the elections are early.

The producers of this weekly poll, which has been published every Friday in Maariv newspaper for the past two years, have confirmed that the result of this poll shows that the current political leaders (both from the ruling coalition and from the opposition) have lost their popularity and legitimacy. Israel is facing a growing crisis of leadership.

According to the Israeli constitution, the leader of the party that won the most seats has the right to form the government, except in rare cases when the president of Israel, Isaac Herzog, decides otherwise. Therefore, in the current situation, Naftali Bennett will be the strongest candidate for the position of Prime Minister, because the poll results show that out of the total 120 Knesset seats, 59 seats will go to Naftali Bennett, 51 seats to Netanyahu and 10 seats to Arab representatives. Of course, the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality coalition led by Ayman Oudeh will have 4 seats and the Arab Movement for Change led by Ahmed Tayibi will have 6 seats. Meanwhile, according to the latest poll results, the United Arab List led by Mansour Abbas, which had 5 seats in last week's poll, will get only 4 seats.

As a result, it is expected that the opposition will be able to form a government with one of the two Arab parties, especially since recently Mansour Abbas announced that he is ready to join the anti-Netanyahu coalition. However, the racist statements of two opposition leaders (Avigdor Lieberman and Yair Lapid) are not compatible with the coalition plan with Arab representatives. Of course, by refusing to form a coalition with Arab representatives, the opposition will not only lose the opportunity to win to take power, but the elections will also be pushed to the second round, and until then Netanyahu will remain in the position of prime minister.

According to Independent, the producers of this survey believe that the current trend is mainly due to the possibility that Netanyahu will not leave people's feelings unanswered by giving a decisive answer to the threats of the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah and choosing Yahya Sanwar to lead the Hamas movement. Also, from the results of the recent survey, it appears that a high percentage of Israeli citizens, which reach 42%, believe that the Israeli army should launch a preemptive attack to end the threat of Hezbollah. But 48 percent of Israelis believe that trying to reach an agreement to return the hostages is the most appropriate option. Although the percentage of people who do not want war is higher, the percentage of people who emphasize the necessity of starting a war can maintain Netanyahu's lead in the field of competition.

In response to the question whether Israel can confront the Islamic Republic without the support and participation of the United States, about 29 percent of Israeli citizens said that Israel is capable of confronting the Islamic Republic, while another 57 percent answered that the attack Iran is only possible with the participation of the United States.

Since Netanyahu is often at odds with the US government, led by Joe Biden, and Naftali Bennett is known to have good relations with Washington, Israeli citizens prefer Naftali Bennett to be elected prime minister in the current situation. However, it should not be forgotten that Naftali Bennett surpasses Netanyahu in some cases by adopting harsh and strict positions. Not long ago, Naftali Bennett announced in an interview with the CNN news channel that the Israeli army should not stop at attacking Hezbollah's positions. Pointing out that the entire territory of Lebanon should be attacked, he said: "The government of Lebanon, to which Hezbollah belongs, has started a war with Israel, and we will no longer distinguish between Lebanon and Hezbollah, which is part of Lebanon." "

Bennett pointed out that the only way to stop the round-the-clock attack of our enemies from Yemen, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon is to give a crushing response and hit them.

Naftali Bennett added: "The political and military leadership in Israel has failed and is in dire need of change, because the political leadership puts personal and party interests ahead of the interests of the state and the nation and enters into an unnecessary conflict with our most important allies in Washington." In addition, some cabinet ministers, ignoring many countries in the world, continuously warn that they will use a nuclear bomb against the Gaza Strip, while this approach is practically childish and irresponsible. Although the military leadership of Israel is made up of loyal and popular people, their defeat in the recent war requires a change in the military leadership.

It is worth noting that if the current parties participate in the elections without the presence of Naftali Bennett, the result of the election will be similar to the results of last week's poll and there will not be much change.
