Officials of the Ministry of Public Health said in the government's accountability program to the nation at the government media center that Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in the production of serum, and in the last one year, more than 2,000 items of domestically produced spices have been released to the market. They also add that cooperation memoranda have been signed with 180 institutions providing health services in the country.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In continuation of the accountability program of the government to the nation, the officials of the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate today (Saturday, August 17) shared the achievements of the past year during a press conference in the presence of journalists at the Government Information and Media Center.

Mohammad Hassan Ghiyashi, Minister of Health Planning and Development of the Ministry of Public Health, arranged a five-year plan, criteria for accreditation and grading of diagnostic laboratories and clinics and legal documents, distribution of activity licenses to 3489 health workers, provision of health services to prisoners in 34 provinces, registration and the approval of 1056 items of different types of spices to support domestic production, the registration and registration of 1506 new doctors, and the handling of 14 cases of complaints and medical violations are among the major functions of the Ministry of Health in the last one year.

According to him, standardizing the curriculum in all private institutes, upgrading the two-year course of midwifery to three years, enrolling 27,642 students in private institutes of medical sciences, organizing training programs for 6,2031 students in the health and leisure department of 1,608 students from medical science institutes. 

Deputy Minister of Policy of the Ministry of Public Health, Afroud, through 4212 health centers, 87987104 comprehensive services, 1986650 inpatient services, 65300 hemodialysis services, 31614 services for people with cancer, treatment of 23692 addicts and also provision of health and psychotherapy services to 22 thousand affected people. Among the recent earthquakes in the country, it is one of the significant actions of this ministry during the last year.

Mohammad Hassan Ghiathi stated that during the last year, more than 8.8 million vitamin A capsules were distributed to children aged 6 to 59 months, 1557344 folic acid and iron tablets to children and young adults, 1861221 nutritional powders (MNP) to children aged 6 to 59 The implementation of vaccination and treatment of 2,7038 tons of returnees in 14 provinces of the country, provision of health services to 258,170 nomads and provision of physical equipment for 6,831 tons of disabled people are the tangible achievements of this ministry.

According to his words, during the last one year, the rate of vaccination has increased from 65% to 80%, and a total of 8599750 children and mothers have received vaccines during this period.

This official of the Ministry of Public Health says that during the past one year, 25,302 items of imported spices and health products were allowed to enter, 2,316 items of domestically produced drugs were released to the market, and 15 factories producing spices, 151 drug supply companies, and 179 wholesalers, as well as 2468 pharmacists have been licensed.

Deputy Policy Minister of the Ministry of Health added that Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in the production of serum and last year more serum was exported to Arab countries.

On the other hand, Sharaf Zaman, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, said that the signing of memorandums of cooperation with 180 institutions providing health services in the country and the registration of 184 institutions active in the health sector are among the other actions of the ministry in the last year.

According to him, establishing health centers at the district level, improving the quality of health services in remote areas, equipping the Republic Hospital, curbing infectious diseases, eradicating polio, and organizing capacity improvement programs are among the urgent priorities of this ministry this year.
