Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The president of Columbia University, who was heavily criticized in recent months for his treatment of pro-Palestinian protesting students, has finally resigned from his position.

During the student protests against the crimes of the Zionist regime this spring, Minoush Shafiq called the New York police twice to disperse the protests.

Following the spread of anti-Israel protests in American universities against the Gaza war, the Zionist lobby has forced the presidents of Harvard and Pennsylvania universities to resign.

He was also reportedly forced to appear before the US Congress, where he was accused of not doing enough to keep Jewish students safe.

Ms. Shafiq has said that her resignation will best serve Columbia University.

Ms. Shafiq is an English-American economist of Egyptian origin who became the first female president of Columbia University in July 2023.
