Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, in her first interview since her resignation, which took place under the pressure of several weeks of protests and unrest, claimed that the United States played a role in her overthrow.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Sheikh Hasina", the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, in her first interview since her resignation under the pressure of several weeks of protests and unrest against her, talked about the role of the United States in overthrowing her.

Hasina, who fled to India about a week ago following the occupation and looting of the prime minister's palace in Bangladesh, told the Economic Times in her first interview after her escape: "I resigned to prevent further violence." . They (opponents) sought to seize power by passing over the dead bodies of the students, but I stopped it by resigning."

On the 5th of August, Sheikh Hasina announced her resignation while leaving the country after protesting students announced their only demand for Hasina's resignation. The protests of these students were initially motivated by opposition to the quota system in government jobs, but after the killings and violence against the protesters, they demanded Hasina's resignation.

After Sheikh Hasina fled Dhaka to India, an interim government was formed under Nobel Peace Prize laureate Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus to oversee a transition period and prepare for early elections.

In an interview with Economic Times, Hasina said that if she had not fled the country, there would have been more killing and destruction in Bangladesh. "I became your leader because you elected me," he added. You were my strength."

According to reports, the violence that occurred after Hasina's resignation led to the deaths of 230 more people, bringing the death toll in Bangladesh protests to 560 since student protests began in mid-July.

Sheikh Hasina also addressed the protesting students and emphasized that she never called these students "rezakar" (pro-Pakistan). It was the name given to the paramilitary forces organized by Pakistan during the Bangladesh War of Independence in 1971.

He, who is the leader of Awami League party, added: "My words were distorted to provoke you. Watch the full video of my speech that day to understand how conspirators have used your innocence to destabilize the country."

The resigned Prime Minister of Bangladesh also said: "If I had ceded the sovereignty of the Saint Martin Islands and allowed the United States of America to have the Bay of Bengal under its influence, I would still be in power." I appeal to the people of my land, please don't let the extremists make you a toy."

Last May, Sheikh Hasina spoke of a plot to form a Christian state similar to East Timor by separating parts of Bangladesh and Myanmar. He said the country, which he did not reveal at the time, offered him an easy election victory if he allowed it to set up an air base in Bangladesh.
