Afghanistan is close to self-sufficiency in the poultry sector

Officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock say that the deputy of this ministry said in a meeting with a number of chicken farmers that Afghanistan is close to self-sufficiency in the poultry sector. He asked the businessmen to try in other sectors so that the country becomes self-sufficient.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Misbahuddin Mustain, the head of information and public awareness of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, in an interview with AVA reporter, said that Molawi Osmani, the deputy minister of the ministry, met with a number of chicken farmers and the poultry union in his office.

According to him, the purpose of this meeting was to solve the problems and challenges facing chicken farmers, how to increase production and control the price of chicken meat in the market by the municipality.

Moulvi Osmani Chancellor, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in the poultry sector.

He asked businessmen and farmers to try to make Afghanistan self-sufficient in other sectors as well.

Rasool Khan Hamdard, the representative of the National Union of Farmers, said in this meeting: "Increasing taxes, not controlling the price of chicken in the market and importing chicken feed are major problems of chicken farmers."

According to the head of information and public awareness of the Ministry of Agriculture, there are currently tens of thousands of small and large chicken farms operating throughout Afghanistan that produce and sell meat and eggs.

It should be mentioned that before, Afghanistan used to meet its need for chicken meat and its eggs through imports from Iran.
