Following the assassination of the senior leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ali Bagheri and Faisal bin Farhan discussed the latest developments related to the martyrdom of the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh during a phone call.

According to the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in this phone call, Bagheri emphasized on "using Iran's inherent and legitimate right to take regretful and decisive action against the fake Zionist regime."

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also emphasized the necessity of holding an "emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to deal with these obvious crimes in the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh and the obvious violation of the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

On the other hand, Ben Farhan, while condemning the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the action "against the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist regime, evaluated the situation in the region as critical and dangerous."

He further emphasized the need to reduce tensions in the region and said: Saudi Arabia will welcome the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting to investigate the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh and emphasized the continuation of consultations between the two countries.
