China is investing in three large power generation dam projects in Kunar

The Ministry of Energy and Water says that the officials of a Chinese company have expressed their interest in investing in three large power generation projects in Kunar province in a meeting with the acting head of the ministry.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Energy and Water published a newsletter saying that Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, acting head of the ministry, met with the officials of a Chinese company in his office.

According to the Ministry of Energy, in this meeting, the parties discussed and exchanged opinions about investing in three large power generation dam projects (Shal, Sagi and Sartaq) in Kunar province.

In this meeting, the officials of the Chinese company expressed their interest in investing in the mentioned projects and stated that they are ready to sign the memorandum of cooperation with this ministry as soon as possible and start their work in a practical way.

On the other hand, the Acting Ministry of Water and Energy welcomed the interest of the mentioned company in investing in electricity production dams and reminded that the capacity of producing electricity from the water of the Konar Sea is enough that if all these dams are built in the future, Afghanistan will even be able to Export electricity to other neighboring countries.

Acting Minister of Water and Energy assured the officials of the mentioned company about the cooperation of this ministry in order to lay the groundwork for investment and emphasized that it is better to start the work as soon as possible.

It is worth mentioning that the water of the Konar Sea flows into Pakistan without effective use for the time being.
