The government of Somalia has announced that during the joint operation of the army and local armed men in Jubaland state (southern Somalia), 80 members of the al-Shabaab group, including two prominent commanders of this "terrorist" group, have been killed.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Mogadishu government issued a statement on Tuesday announcing: During the joint operation of the army and local armed men in Jubaland state (southern Somalia), 80 members of the al-Shabaab group, including two prominent commanders of this group, were killed. 

It is stated in this statement: In this operation, a large warehouse of Al-Shabaab weapons (RPGs, PKM machine guns and Kalashnikovs) was captured by the federal army. This operation was carried out following the attacks of al-Shabaab elements on military and civilian centers in different areas of Jubaland state.

According to Somali Jade Chap Mogadishu newspaper, Ahmad Ali, one of the army commanders, said: "Our combat units with the help of local forces of Jubaland state carried out an operation against al-Shabaab elements." This operation shows that the army is determined to root out al-Shabaab and restore stability and security to the country.

According to Tasnim, following the operation of the Somali Federal Army against Al-Shabaab group in Jubaland state, President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud appreciated the army and its local allies.

By attacking the areas of Jubaland state that had recently been taken over by this terrorist group, the elements of Al-Shabaab wanted to retake those areas, but they failed.

Al-Shabaab is an al-Qaeda-affiliated group that started its activities in Somalia in 2004 and has disrupted the stability and security of this country and the Horn of Africa by carrying out terrorist operations.

The government of Mogadishu is determined to eradicate al-Shabaab from Somalia and has so far removed many parts of the country from the possession of this group.
