UNDP committed to advancing digital payments and micro-loans
Noor Ahmad Agha, the head of Da Afghanistan Bank, recently met and discussed with the head of the United Nations Development Program in Afghanistan.
Afghan ءoice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: According to a press release from DAB, Noor Ahmad Agha highlighted the crucial role of microfinance and Islamic finance in boosting the country’s economy. He stressed that these initiatives could significantly contribute to job creation and economic stability.

During the meeting, Noor Ahmad Agha called for increased efforts and cooperation from UNDP in facilitating small loans and reducing unemployment. He expressed appreciation for UNDP’s ongoing support in these areas and emphasized the need for continued cooperation.

Meanwhile, Stephen Rodriguez, Head of UNDP Afghanistan, acknowledged the notable progress made since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. He highlighted advancements in stabilizing the Afghan currency, controlling inflation, economic development, boosting exports, and combating corruption, all of which are commendable achievements.

In the end, Rodriguez added that the UNDP is committed to furthering the development of digital payment systems, financing small loans, and expanding financial services in Afghanistan, aiming for greater progress in these areas./Bakhtar
