Exchange of prisoners of war by Ukraine and Russia

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that as a result of the negotiations, 90 Russian prisoners who were in danger of death in captivity were returned from the areas controlled by Kiev. In return, 90 prisoners of the armed forces of Ukraine were handed over.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on Tuesday night: Moscow and Kiev exchanged a total of 180 prisoners of war.

 The Ministry of Defense of Russia added: As a result of the negotiations, 90 Russian prisoners who were in danger of death in captivity were returned from the areas under the control of Kiev. In return, 90 prisoners of the armed forces of Ukraine were handed over.

Russian prisoners were taken to Moscow to undergo medical tests.

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged prisoners several times in the 28 months since the war. The two sides last exchanged more than 150 prisoners in late May.

On February 24, 2022 (5 Pisces 1400), Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a Russian military operation against Ukraine, and thus the tense Moscow-Kiev relationship turned into a military confrontation.

According to Iran Press, in response to this Russian action, America and Western countries have imposed extensive sanctions against Moscow and sent billions of dollars of weapons and military equipment to Kiev.
