Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The upcoming Doha meeting led by the United Nations on Afghanistan will be held under the chairmanship of Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peace Affairs, and represented by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Roza Otunbayeva, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) will also participate in the Doha talks.

"The Doha talks are part of a process," DiCarlo said before the meeting. They are not all at once. The ultimate goal of this process is Afghanistan's peace with itself and its neighbors, which is fully integrated into the international community and fulfills its international obligations, including regarding human rights, especially the rights of women and girls.

According to Carlo, in this week's meetings, we will discuss the many challenges facing the people of Afghanistan, Afghanistan's neighbors and the region and the wider international community. There will also be an opportunity to find ways to engage more principled officials with practical authorities for the benefit of all Afghans."

Stephen Dujarric, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General, also stated that the main goal of the Doha meeting is the complete integration of Afghanistan into the international community and compliance with the country's international obligations.

Confirming the reports, he added: "Rosemary DiCarlo," UN Deputy Secretary General for Political and Peace Affairs, will preside over the third Doha meeting.

Dujarric continued that in this meeting, how to advance the international interaction regarding Afghanistan in a more coherent, coordinated and structured way will be discussed.

The spokesman of the UN Secretary General also emphasized that the Doha meeting will provide a platform for direct dialogue between the countries' special envoys regarding Afghanistan and the Islamic Emirate.

He further clarified that on July 2 in Doha, Di Carlo and the special envoys are going to meet with representatives of the Afghan civil society, including human rights organizations and women's rights defenders.

The Islamic Emirate announced on Tuesday that Zabihullah Mujahid will lead the delegation of the Islamic Emirate in this meeting.
