Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Sports service: The German national football team hosted Scotland in Group A in the opening game of Euro 2024 last night (Friday, June 14) at the Allianz Arena and won with a score of 5-1.
In this match, Germany was completely superior to the opponent and scored three goals in the first half, and considering that Scotland had a player sent off in the last minutes of the first half, they had no chance to come back, and the superiority of the Germans continued in the second half. In the end, they reached a great advantage.
Germany started the game very well with the crowd in attendance and the first attack came from Florian Wirtz who shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but he was ruled offside.
Germany's pressure was maintained in the opponent's field and they controlled the game and scored a goal very soon. In the 10th minute, after Toni Kroos' pass, Joshua Kimmich controlled the ball and created a cross for Wirtz, who converted the ball into a goal with a right-footed shot despite the opposition goalkeeper's reaction.
Germany didn't spend much time to get the second goal and they soon got the second goal in the 20th minute. Kai Havertz fed Ilkay Gundogan's forward pass to Jamal Musyala after control in the penalty area, and his powerful shot was deflected wide of Angus Gunn's hands.
In the 25th minute, Jamal Musyala's fall near the penalty area was suspected to be a penalty, but it was determined by VAR that a free kick near the penalty area was declared in favor of Germany. This shot was sent to the goal by Havertz, which was well blocked by the Scotland goalkeeper.
Scotland tried hard to get out of Germany's press and create dangerous attacks, but they didn't succeed in this, until after several attempts, it was Germany who got the third goal!
In the 44th minute, Porteous brought down Gundogan with a dangerous foul in the penalty area, and after the review of the video assistant referee and the decision of the referee, a penalty was announced in favor of Germany. In the 45+1 minute, this quick penalty was converted into a goal by Havertz.
Scotland started the second half a bit better than the first 45 minutes, but the first serious chance was created by Antonio Rudiger, whose dangerous shot was saved by the goalkeeper in the 51st minute.
In the 58th minute, Wirtz had a good chance to score his second goal, but his shot on a cross into the penalty area went wide. Leroy Sane and Nicolas Volkrug entered the field in the 63rd minute to double the attack power of this team.
Volkrog left his mark in the game very soon and in the 70th minute, he managed to convert a stray ball in the penalty area with a volley into Germany's fourth goal.
In the 89th minute, Scotland scored a strange goal. Sending a free kick to the German penalty area was accompanied by a header from McKenna, and Rudiger, who was spinning towards the German goal, surprised Manuel Neuer with a header and scored an own goal.
The Real Madrid defender's own goal was not the last goal of this eventful game, and Emre Jan, who had been a substitute player in the German team for a few minutes, also managed to score.
John collected Gundogan's pass near the penalty area and fired a technical right-footed shot past Gunn for Germany's fifth goal to complete a storming start for the Euro hosts.
