The United Nations should pay serious attention to the realities of Afghanistan and the region in the third Doha meeting

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Ambassador and Special Representative of the President of Iran for Afghanistan, in a meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, Head of the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, said that this organization helped to establish a "just political order in Afghanistan" with the cooperation of regional countries and at the third meeting in Doha Pay serious attention to the realities of Afghanistan and the region.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian President's special representative for Afghanistan, announced on his X page on Monday, May 13, that he met with Roza Otunbayeva, the head of the UN mission in Afghanistan.

Iran's special representative for Afghanistan, in a meeting with the UN representative, asked this organization to pay serious attention to the realities of Afghanistan and the region in the third Doha meeting on Afghanistan.

In this meeting, he emphasized the role of the United Nations "to establish stability and sustainable peace and create a just political order in Afghanistan through constructive and continuous interaction with the countries of the region."

Kazemi Qomi mentioned Iran's readiness to immediately transfer humanitarian aid to flood victims.

Mr. Qomi also called for the active participation of international organizations to help the people of Afghanistan.

Kazemi Qomi has also mentioned the problem of the country's nationals migrating to Iran. Qomi wrote: "The United Nations must play a more active role in solving the internal roots of migration and facilitate the return process of migrants to their country."

Meanwhile, Iskander Momeni, head of Iran's anti-narcotics headquarters, asked the UN special representative for Afghanistan to consider drugs as a serious threat.

Iskander Momeni added: "Until now, there has been no reduction in the production, growth and trafficking of drugs in Afghanistan."

He told Roza Atenbayeva: "Before the occupation of Afghanistan by America, the production of narcotics in this country was 200 tons, but after the occupation, the production of narcotics reached more than 9,000 tons."

He stressed that the US should be accountable to the international community for the Afghan drug issue.

According to this report, Mr. Momeni, referring to the continuation of drug trafficking, said that the issue of drug trafficking from Afghanistan to the eastern borders of Iran is associated with "insecurity, evil, terrorism and armed actions".

He added that Iran supports and welcomes any measures that reduce the production, growth and trafficking of drugs in Afghanistan.

This Iranian official has expressed concern about drug trafficking, while this country is one of the main routes of drug trafficking from Afghanistan to the West.

Mr. Momeni said that the executive proposal of the Islamic Republic is to control and closely monitor the commercial cargo by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime from the origin to the destination, especially large shipments to Afghanistan.

According to ISNA, Ms. Reza Atenbayeva said that the UN Office on Narcotic Drugs has conducted studies on the drug sector in Afghanistan, which she will present at the upcoming Doha meeting.

He said that the main focus of this study plan is alternative drug cultivation programs in Afghanistan.

The UN representative for Afghanistan said that he will convey Iran's proposals to the UN Secretary General.
