The US, the biggest supporter of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, claims it would freeze its generous arms supplies to the regime if the latter went ahead with its promised full-scale invasion of the refugee-packed Gazan city of Rafah.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: "If they go into Rafah, I'm not supplying the weapons that have been used to deal with the cities," President Joe Biden claimed in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.
"We're not gonna supply the weapons and the artillery shells that have been used," he went on.
The United States has been providing the regime with thousands of tons of military equipment since Tel Aviv launched the war on October 7 following a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance groups.
Biden’s remarks came only after the war killed at least 34,844 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
The US props up the Israeli regime with $3 billion in annual military aid.
Biden even began pushing Congress to ramp up the support after the war started.
The US’s only move to limit the weapon supplies came earlier on Wednesday, when US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that Biden had decided to hold up delivery of high payload munitions to the Israeli regime over the prospect of Rafah’s invasion.
Some 1.5 million Palestinians are seeking refuge in the city after fleeing the regime’s unbridled aggression against the rest of Gaza.
Rafah is already witnessing incessant Israeli airstrikes and a limited ground incursion by the regime.
The US president, meanwhile, significantly toned down his threat of halting the American arms supplies.
"We're not walking away from Israel's security," he said, adding, "We're walking away from Israel's ability to wage war in those areas."/Press tv
