A senior US government official claimed late Saturday that Tel Aviv has "more or less" accepted the offer of a six-week ceasefire in Gaza and the release of vulnerable prisoners, and now everyone is waiting for Hamas' response.

 

While international negotiators are trying to reach a definitive agreement before the start of the holy month of Ramadan on March 10, talks with Egyptian and Qatari mediators will take place on Sunday with the Hamas delegation.

 

An Egyptian source said: "A delegation from the Hamas movement, including Khalil al-Hiya, the deputy head of the Hamas movement in Gaza, and Zaher Jabarin, will enter Cairo to present the movement's final response to the Paris 2 framework. At the same time, an Israeli security delegation will be in Cairo, and Nitzan Alon, who is responsible for the case of prisoners in the occupying army, will participate in the negotiations to examine the content of the Palestinian response.

 

According to ISNA, this Egyptian source explained: "The Israeli delegation that comes to Cairo will have the authority to negotiate after making sure that the response of the resistance meets the minimum standards set by the Israeli government."

 

On the other hand, one of the leaders of the Hamas movement told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed: "Hamas and the resistance will not provide any details or information about their prisoners without paying a lot of money to reduce the suffering of the people of Gaza and establishing a comprehensive ceasefire."

 

This source explained: "What is said about Tel Aviv's condition to receive a list of the names of the living prisoners in order to resume the ceasefire negotiations cannot indicate pressure on the resistance."

 

He said: Everything in the negotiation process must have a price and there are clear demands from the movement that the occupiers must implement in order to free their captives and save those who are still alive.

 

Hebrew reports stated that "(Benyamin) Netanyahu's government informed Egypt and Qatar that it will not hold a new round of negotiations on the prisoner release agreement until Hamas provides a list of its prisoners who are still alive."
