29 Feb 2024 - 11:45

The World Bank has announced that at the request of the countries included in the Casa-1000 project, it will resume this project with the financial assistance of the International Development Association as an exclusive fund.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The World Bank has announced that it will start the construction of the CASA-1000 power transmission line project at the request of the three participating countries in this project in Afghanistan.

This line is almost completed in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, and 15% of its work has been completed in Afghanistan.

According to the World Bank, the global participating countries have asked to resume the CASA-10000 project in Afghanistan with their initial financial assistance.

According to this notice, the World Bank has decided to resume CASA-1000 with the financial assistance of the International Development Association as an exclusive fund and all construction payments in this project will be managed outside Afghanistan.

According to the World Bank, the 110 million dollars available in this project, which was stopped in 1400 after the political transformation of Afghanistan, will now be used.

The bank also added that the International Development Association has not proposed or predicted any new resources to complete this project in Afghanistan.

The CASA-1000 project was approved by the World Bank Board of Directors in March 2014 with the financing of the International Development Association to transfer the exported electricity of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan. Through this project, 1000 MW of electricity will be supplied to Pakistan and 300 MW of electricity to Afghanistan.

The World Bank has said that the completion of this project in Afghanistan is very important because Afghanistan is the hub of connecting the CASA-1000 transmission line to the region's drawers.

Based on the assessment of this bank, if this project is not completed in Afghanistan, it will bring significant economic and financial losses to Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

A part of this damage is estimated at one billion dollars. However, the World Bank said that the CASA-1000 project will be completed in two phases and is expected to take up to three years to complete.
