A look at America's role in not establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip

23 Feb 2024 - 13:25

While with humanitarian gestures, America is trying to reduce the pressure of public opinion due to its direct participation in Israel's genocidal war against the Palestinian people, for the third time it vetoed the draft resolution to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza with the aim of supporting the crimes of this regime.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The draft resolution to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, which was submitted to the United Nations Security Council by Algeria on behalf of the group of representatives of Arab countries in the United Nations, was presented to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday. Although the Council received 13 positive votes from its members, it was finally vetoed by the United States.

Britain, as another supporter of the Zionist regime's genocide in the Gaza Strip, voted happily for this resolution.

The United States vetoed the proposed resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza
Since the beginning of the new round of genocide by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip on October 15-7, this is the third time that the resolution proposed by the international community to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the killing of the Palestinian people has been vetoed by the United States.

Each resolution needs 9 votes without opposition or the veto of the five permanent members of this council (America, Great Britain, Russia, China and France) to be approved in the Security Council.

"Linda Thomas Greenfield", the ambassador and permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations, claimed: "The resolution proposed by Algeria disrupts the efforts to reach an agreement on the release of prisoners from both sides."

On the other hand, Riyad Mansour, the representative of Palestine at the United Nations, condemned the veto of the draft ceasefire resolution in Gaza by the United States, describing it as a dangerous action and the cause of the escalation of the killing of Palestinians.

Reactions to the US veto of the Security Council draft resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza
The United States has vetoed the Security Council's draft resolution to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, while the number of Palestinian martyrs since the start of the Zionist regime's invasion of Gaza on October 7 has reached more than 29,000 and the number of wounded has reached about 70,000.

The draft resolution proposed by Algeria to establish a cease-fire in Gaza was vetoed by the United States under the conditions that the Zionist regime is preparing to attack the border city of Rafah, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians gather in the south of Gaza.

This decision by the authorities of the Israeli regime is a serious threat against a densely populated area where 1 million and 400 thousand people have been forced to move to this area due to the Zionist attacks on Gaza and may have irreparable consequences.

The consequences of America's action in vetoing the resolution to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
America's claim in justifying the veto of the cease-fire resolution and its connection with the disruption of the process of exchanging dozens of Israeli prisoners with hundreds of Palestinian prisoners is raised in the circumstances that since the start of the Zionist regime's attacks on Gaza, 100,000 Gaza residents have been killed or injured, as well as soldiers. Hundreds of Zionists have been killed or injured.

For this reason, the claim of America and Israel about trying to exchange prisoners is not believable, and the root of the reasons for the escalation of Israel's attacks and America's support for it should be sought in other issues.

In fact, by vetoing the cease-fire resolution in Gaza, the United States is trying to completely destroy its infrastructure and then try to provide the ground for the forced migration of the residents of the region, while leaving the hands of the Zionist regime to continue the attacks on Gaza.

This is while the senior officials of the Zionist regime have repeatedly expressed their interest in the migration of refugees living in Gaza to Jordan and Egypt in exchange for financial aid.

Although these positions have met with strong opposition from the Palestinians and the countries of the region, the conspiracies of the Zionist enemy and its supporters, especially the United States and England, should not be underestimated, just like the forced migration of Palestinians to Jordan after the Arab-Israeli war in the past. led to permanent Palestinians in Jordan.

For this reason, the consequences of preventing the issuance of a resolution to immediately stop the war in Gaza are aimed at the United States, and if after this, any untoward incident occurs in Gaza, especially in the border city of Rafah, the Biden government will be directly responsible for it.
