Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The draft resolution to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, which was submitted to the United Nations Security Council by Algeria on behalf of the group of representatives of Arab countries in the United Nations, was presented to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday. Although the Council received 13 positive votes from its members, it was finally vetoed by the United States.

Since the beginning of the new round of genocide by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip on October 15-7, this is the third time that the resolution proposed by the international community to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the killing of the Palestinian people has been vetoed by the United States.

 

Each resolution needs 9 votes without opposition or the veto of the five permanent members of this council (America, Great Britain, Russia, China and France) to be approved in the Security Council.

 

"Linda Thomas Greenfield", the ambassador and permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations, claimed: "The resolution proposed by Algeria disrupts the efforts to reach an agreement on the release of prisoners from both sides."

 

On the other hand, Riyad Mansour, the representative of Palestine at the United Nations, condemned the veto of the draft ceasefire resolution in Gaza by the United States, describing it as a dangerous action and the cause of the escalation of the killing of Palestinians.

America's claim in justifying the veto of the cease-fire resolution and its connection with the disruption of the process of exchanging dozens of Israeli prisoners with hundreds of Palestinian prisoners is raised in the circumstances that since the start of the Zionist regime's attacks on Gaza, 100,000 Gaza residents have been killed or injured, as well as soldiers.
