Ben Roberts Smith, the Australian soldier accused of committing war crimes in Afghanistan, has appealed to the Federal Court of Australia.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The media reported on Tuesday, Febuary 13, that Roberts is appealing the federal court's ruling that rejected his defamation case.

In June last year, he filed a lawsuit against three Australian newspapers that published reports about Smith's war crimes in Afghanistan, but the court dismissed his lawsuit.

Three Australian media, including the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the Canberra Times, published reports in 2018, according to which Roberts Smith killed six civilians during his mission in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2012.

However, Roberts filed a defamation complaint to dismiss the allegations against him.

But his case, which cost 15 million dollars, finally did not go in Smith's favor with the testimony of more than 30 people that he was involved in illegal killings in Afghanistan, and he lost.

It should be noted that not long ago, Chard Marle, the Minister of Defense of Australia, said that the government of this country is examining the options of paying compensation to the victims of war crimes in Afghanistan, but so far this plan has not been implemented.

Meanwhile, several British soldiers have been accused of committing war crimes in Afghanistan.
