England may send a warship to the Red Sea under the pretext of threats from Yemen

1 Feb 2024 - 9:36

British military officials have said that this country may send an aircraft carrier to the Red Sea to deal with threats from Yemeni forces.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): It has been said that the British aircraft carrier may go to the Red Sea to replace the American USS Dwight Eisenhower.

The UK has already participated in a series of airstrikes in cooperation with the US to attack the Yemeni forces, while the warship HMS Diamond has also been deployed to protect ships in the key trade route in the Red Sea.

In an interview with House magazine, the Minister of the British Armed Forces suggested that a British aircraft carrier could close the existing "gap" in the future.

He noted that the Royal Navy could "come in when Eisenhower comes home and if we need to close the gap in American troop deployments, or if the situation worsens and we need more."

This British official added: The truth is that Eisenhower cannot be stationed there forever. Therefore, the issue of maintaining the presence of the ship in this area is that we may cooperate with the Americans in this field.

West Spithead, a retired British admiral, is among those who suggested that his country could send an aircraft carrier to the region.

Earlier, the British Prime Minister's Office announced that London has no plans to send more ships and military equipment to the Red Sea.

According to the Daily Mail, some former figures of the British Navy asked the government of this country to send one of the 2 aircraft carriers of this country, which cost billions of pounds to build, to protect shipping in the Middle East region.
