Imran Khan and his government's foreign minister have been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty by a special court in the case of revealing confidential government documents.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International survey: Al Jazeera channel, citing Pakistani media, reported that Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of this country, along with Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the then Foreign Minister of Pakistan, were sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison on charges of revealing state secrets. (10 years each) was sentenced.
It is said that the special court that was formed in the Rawalpindi prison sentenced Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Mahmood Shah Farishi to ten years in prison on charges of revealing government secrets.
Mr. Khan, who was ousted as prime minister in 2022 by his opponents, is serving a three-year prison term after being convicted of corruption.
He called all the accusations against him politically motivated. He was convicted under the State Secrets Act a week before the general election. Imran Khan has been banned from participating in this election.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister, has also been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the court.
The case revolves around the disclosure of confidential diplomatic correspondence sent by Pakistan's ambassador in Washington to Islamabad when Mr. Khan was prime minister. It has been said that in these correspondences, the role of America in removing Imran Khan from power has been revealed.
