A meeting was convened with the aim of preventing poppy cultivation, aligning with the directives of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), scholars, influential mujahideen, government officials, and local military authorities in the province.
The participants unanimously agreed that poppy cultivation is strictly forbidden in Islam and called for concerted efforts by Muslims to eradicate this persistent menace.
Highlighting the grave risks associated with the drug, Akhund emphasized that Afghanistan currently has 350,000 drug addicts, with 140,000 having already undergone treatment, and 20,000 currently receiving treatment.
He stressed the urgent need to eliminate opium and poppy cultivation in Afghanistan’s future, expressing the nation’s unequivocal stance against its cultivation.
During the session, Mawlavi Shams al-Din Shariati, the head of oversight and judgments under the command of Amir al-Mu’minin, along with other officials, underscored the necessity of serious efforts to eradicate poppy cultivation.
They made it clear that all forms of narcotics trafficking and cultivation are strictly forbidden, and the authorities are committed to their complete eradication.
The Interior Ministry’s firm stance against poppy cultivation reflects the government’s determination to combat the drug trade, protect public health, and uphold Islamic principles.
The implementation of stricter penalties for poppy cultivators sends a strong message that the authorities will not tolerate the cultivation and production of illegal narcotics, aiming to create a drug-free Afghanistan for future generations.
