Bloomberg reported that last month a secret meeting was held between Ukraine, G7 allies and several other countries to discuss holding peace talks with Russia.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): This meeting was held on December 16 at the level of national security advisors in Saudi Arabia. Russia was not invited to this meeting and China refused to attend it.
Informative sources say that the purpose of this confidential meeting was to hold more open and frank negotiations about the Ukrainian peace formula and reach principles for future interaction with Russia.
But that collective effort has waned in recent months as the Russian offensive approaches its third year. In the United States and the European Union, more than 100 billion dollars of vital aid failed to get approval in Washington and Brussels, while the counterattack against Ukraine last year was a failure in the field.
Informed sources have said that no major progress was made in the last meeting held in Riyadh. Ukraine and its G-7 allies continue to resist calls from some countries to engage directly with Russia, they said.
Although the senior officials of India, Saudi Arabia and Turkey participated in this meeting in Riyadh, other countries such as China, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, which had participated in some previous meetings, refused to send their representatives to the December meeting.
