10 Jan 2024 - 21:10

23.7 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian aid in 2024. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), has said.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The organization emphasized Afghanistan’s prolonged conflict, recurring natural disasters, and deep-rooted poverty as ongoing challenges. In 2023, 65% of families in the country continued to experience economic difficulties.

OCHA specified that 23.7 million people urgently require assistance, with 17.3 million prioritized for multi-sectoral aid in 2024, requiring $3.6 billion to address their issues.
This funding aims to tackle key priorities such as food aid, clean drinking water, healthcare, education, and other acute needs.

This request comes amid UN struggles with budget constraints and global attention focused on issues like Gaza and the Ukraine crisis, leading to reduced aid to Afghanistan in the past year.
