Kabulov: The new UN meeting on Afghanistan will be held in the second half of January
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Zamir Kabulov told Russian TASS news agency about the details of this meeting that representatives of different countries will participate in this meeting and will share their views on Afghanistan.
He added that the Moscow format on Afghanistan will continue to work in 2024 and will be held in the fall of this year.
This Russian official once again asked the United States of America to release the frozen assets of Afghanistan.
Previously, news sources have reported that following the approval of the new UN Security Council resolution on Afghanistan, a new meeting is scheduled for this country, with the aim of implementing the articles of this resolution, especially the selection of a special representative to contact the government of the Emirate. Islam was held, but its date was not specified. Now the special representative of Russia says that this meeting is supposed to be held in the second half of January.
The United Nations Security Council on 8 January approved a new resolution on how to interact with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with the majority of permanent and non-permanent members.
In this resolution, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is asked to appoint a special envoy for Afghanistan in order to promote "intra-Afghan" talks.
The Islamic Emirate has opposed the selection of a special envoy for Afghanistan by the United Nations.
