Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The death toll from the terrible earthquake in Japan on the first day of January has reached at least 48 people.

Yesterday, on the first day of the new year, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 shook the center of Japan and a tsunami warning was issued in this country. This is the first tsunami warning after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan. A tsunami warning means that there is a possibility of waves with a height of more than 3 meters.

According to Isna, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that more than 150 earthquakes have occurred since this earthquake. The agency warned of the possibility of stronger earthquakes in the coming days.

According to this report, rescue teams are searching among the ruins of buildings in some areas to find trapped and injured people. While some roads have cracks and tens of thousands of homes have been cut off.

After the earthquake, thousands of military personnel, firefighters and police officers from all over the country have been dispatched to the western areas of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, which was the main site of the earthquake.

However, the efforts of relief teams have been hampered by the severity of the damage, destroyed buildings and blocked roads, and officials say it is difficult to fully assess the effects and consequences of the earthquake.

Following the earthquake, the movement of many trains, ships and planes to the earthquake affected areas has been suspended. Noto Airport is also closed due to damage to the runway, terminal and roads leading to the airport.

Also, around 500 people were trapped in their cars in the airport parking area.

Authorities in Ishikawa Prefecture have confirmed the death of 30 people so far.

The Japan Fire and Crisis Management Agency also announced that firefighters have so far put out several fires caused by explosions caused by the earthquake and tried to save people trapped under the rubble of buildings.

Also, following the earthquake yesterday, the Russian authorities issued a tsunami warning in the cities of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
