OCHA: Afghanistan has received 188 million dollars in aid since the beginning of this year
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations (OCHA) announced that since the beginning of this year, Afghanistan has received 53 million dollars from the Central Emergency Response Fund of the United Nations and 135 million dollars from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF) to support and activate humanitarian actions. including assistance to people affected by natural disasters and sudden crises.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) published a statement and said that with this financial aid, it was spent in the areas of shelter, food, health, water, sanitation and malnutrition for the needy.
With these grants, the outlook for food insecurity has slightly improved, with the number of people expected to experience acute hunger between November 2023 and March 2024 falling from 18.3 million to 15.8 million, the report said.
However, Ocha said, despite the decrease in the number of Afghans facing acute hunger, between November this year and March next year, 15.8 million Afghans will experience this challenge.
According to this institution, the number of people who are in emergency situations of food insecurity has also decreased from 5.1 million to 3.5 million people.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has recently said that human needs in Afghanistan will remain at a high level in 2024, referring to the consequences of four decades of conflict, entrenched poverty, crises caused by climate change and the return of Afghan immigrants from Pakistan and Iran.
