Emir of Kuwait passed away

Sheikh Nawaf Ahmad Jaber al-Sabah, the 16th emir since the beginning of al-Sabah's rule in Kuwait and the sixth emir since the country's independence, died today (Saturday).


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Emiri Diwan of Kuwait announced in a statement that Sheikh Nawaf Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of this country, died at the age of 86.
 
Nawaf Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah, born on June 25, 1937, was the Emir of Kuwait and the Commander-in-Chief of the Kuwait Armed Forces, who was appointed to this position on September 29, 2020, after the death of his half-brother, Sabah Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah.
 
Kuwait's official news agency (KUNA) reported that Nawaf Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah was hospitalized due to his deteriorating condition.
 
Emir of Kuwait went to Italy for medical examinations in May, September and October 2022. Due to his illness, he had left most of his powers to his crown prince.
 
The Al-Sabah family rules in Kuwait and the Emir is the highest official in the country.

His crown prince was Sheikh Mashal Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah, who is now 83 years old and is believed to be the oldest crown prince in the world, and is now in line to take over the rule of Kuwait.
 
Mashal Al-Ahmad was elected as the crown prince on October 7, 2020.
 
Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad is the half-brother of Sheikh Nawaf. He studied in Kuwait and at the Hendon Military College in England and was the vice-chief of the Kuwaiti National Guard.
 
Kuwait, a country of 4.2 million people with the sixth largest known oil reserves in the world, is located in the southwest of the Persian Gulf. 1.5 million people are Kuwaiti citizens and the rest (3 million people) are resident foreign citizens.

Kuwait's government is a constitutional monarchy. Legislation and supervision of the government (prime minister and cabinet) is done by the elected parliament. The prime minister is introduced to the parliament by the emir.
