In the United Nations Security Council, contrary to its claims of defending peace and stability in Palestine, the United States vetoed the council's resolution to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The UN Security Council convened a meeting on Friday (December 8) at the request of Antonio Guterres, citing Article 99 of the organization's charter regarding Gaza and voting on a resolution on the ceasefire.
This vote was held late and as a result of 13 positive votes in favor of an immediate ceasefire, the United States as a permanent member voted against and vetoed the resolution.
"We do not support this resolution's call for an unstable ceasefire that will only sow the seeds for the next war," Robert Wood, deputy US ambassador to the United Nations, told the Security Council, according to Reuters.
The United States and the Zionist regime are against the cease-fire in Gaza and say that this cease-fire only benefits Hamas.
America's decision to veto the ceasefire resolution has been criticized.
Human Rights Watch has said that the United States, by vetoing the Security Council's resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, has exposed itself to complicity in "war crimes".
It should be mentioned that before the vote on the resolution, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, asked the Security Council not to spare any effort to establish a ceasefire.
